Let’s call this Roundup #60 even though there won’t be much rounding up this week. I’m traveling this month so will take a break, probably until May - so no S&H stories or S&S roundups the rest of April. Thanks for understanding.
In the meantime, here are some other ways to get your sword and sorcery fix…

A Few Publishers of S&S
Here are just a few off the top of my head (alphabetical order):
And one more - a special issue from Apocalypse Confidential… S-Word!
So that’s it for now…
Except…I should probably comment on the future of this newsletter. Mostly personal stuff ahead, so feel free to skip because it’s boring. (grin)
First, writing is a hobby for me, not a business (although I like to make money off this hobby, for sure). And S&S is a fantastic side-interest of mine. I’ve had a blast with this newsletter and eZine and publishing ventures and various Kickstarter projects…
But it’s too much. As many of you know, we’re living in Puerto Rico - a kind of semi-retirement where I could focus on writing and publishing. For a number of reasons, however, my wife and I are moving back to the States, probably this summer.
Right now I’m on ‘vacation’ in Knoxville, TN, interviewing with a few churches who are looking for pastors. If God allows, we’ll find a new church home in the next few weeks and months. Which means, I’ll be putting my writing hobby on hold.
Which also means, I’ll be wrapping up this S&S Subtack by the end of the summer. I have stories (“S&S One Story at a Time!”) scheduled through August and then that’s it. I’m putting Swords & Heroes on indefinite hiatus (as well as ResAliens) and take a break from publishing for the foreseeable future. So my sub window is closed.
Of course, I’ll finish up some projects that are already in the pipeline. I’ve been in contact with a few writers and I semi-committed to publishing some collections. But once they realize I’ll be out of the picture for a while, they may change their mind!
And I have one more Kickstarter to launch - a four-volume collection of space opera stories. I have almost all the authors lined up with tales, BUT, I do need two more “Generation Ship” stories for this project called: Space Opera Stories (see guidelines here). The Kickstarter starts later this summer (see pre-launch page here), so please check it out and support it if you can. Contact me if you have any questions.
So that’s it. At least for now. See you all in May! Have a blessed Holy Week next week and a wonderful Resurrection Day on Easter Sunday. - Lyn Perry
Until next time, keep swinging!
Sorry to see you'll be retiring from publishing sword and sorcery material, but I can understand you must have overriding reasons why this is what must happen. Perhaps one day you'll be able to return to add your undeniable talents to the genre. In the meantime I wish you all the luck in whatever happens.
I will miss the Roundup and stories when you are done. No one is doing quite the same job you are. I'm glad I could contribute in my small way. Moving and coming out of semi-retirement is a major effort and I wish you the best! And of course, I hope you'll come back to it when life settles, but that would be another chapter...
