I enjoyed that. Dark, creepy and foreboding - ingredients I love - and mysterious, suitably brutal, (I'm fond of those ingredients too) and with many unanswered questions to lead us to follow the journey into the deathly realms.

He told me he's written the next Carrion Knight story. Should be an intriguing journey to follow!

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I also found the brutality quite suitable. The next Kavion story has just been published—it answers a few questions and poses many more. You can read it for free here: https://ko-fi.com/s/f24885fbc7

Good story. Seems like it could be at home in Old Moon Quarterly. I’m looking forward to the story in Crimson Quill.

Thank you for the compliment. Did you enjoy Cold Blood? I’m fond of Graham Thomas Wilcox’s work and appreciated his input on the next Kavion story, which you can read for free here: https://ko-fi.com/s/f24885fbc7

Very atmospheric but for me over-writ and slightly messy and feeling much longer than being one of the shorter tales in this Ezine.

Definitely more story to be told. I'd like to read the complete adventures one day.

Thanks, Jason. I do tend to write in a more elaborate style, which can feel at odds with the stripped-back pace of traditional sword and sorcery. I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on the next Kavion story.

Whether a yarn about a dog loving the taste of a good bone (it's not), or a tale of the shell of a man looking for his identity (maybe, maybe not), the brutal environment with a surreal River Styx feel definitely piques my interest. I am interested in learning more about his journey and the array of possible pyrintus variations. I envision a skeletal Death-Dealer and his decaying steed, all eyes glowing from the shadows of death.

A "surreal River Styx feel" is exactly what I was aiming for with this story, and I’m fairly certain the hounds enjoyed their feast (while they could). You can weigh your vision against the next Kavion tale: https://ko-fi.com/s/f24885fbc7
